I'm trying to install the MOM 2005 integration kit. I followed the instructions but I do not see any of the alerts from MOM beiong sent to my EM server? What exactly needs to be done to install the integration kit to get it working, don't I have to do something on the MOM Management server?

Rick Carlson would be the one to ask... I know they had MOM integrated for a while.

This is what I did. We forward the MOM events to Unicenter via SNMP. I then Imported the MOM MIB into CATRAPD and use Messages and Actions to do what is require i.e. Log USD calls.

It's is possible that you are discarding the MOM events with Messages and Actions? I think they all begin with %...

If thats the case then it sounds like the integration is weak. When I hear integration I would think the messages would be formatted. Am I wrong?

The MOM connector has two purposes. The first is to forward SNMP messages to Unicenter event. The second is to turn the worldview WMI icons colors showing severity. The management kit is installed on the Unicenter side of the house while some of the setting come from MOM. The SNMP messages are hard to use and you can spend alot of time writing policy. The intergration kit is not very robust. I took a different approach and used the event agent to pass MOM alerts to event management. The event agent forwards messages from the native system logs (Windows application, security, and system) to the selected event manager. MOM has the ability to execute commands after it recieves an alarm thru a rule. I used the logevent.exe for Windows and the logger.exe for Solaris to write plain text messages to the native logs. The event agent automatically picks up and forwards the plain text message to the event manager.

This technique comes in handy for any 3rd party utility that write to native logs including in-house developed programs.
