I'm running into an issue when trying to install the 3.1 caiUxOs agent on a Red Hat 7.2 server that previously had an agent installed. I received the following errors during the install of the common services:

/opt/CA/UnicenterNSM/atech is being used as the install path...
chown: getting attributes of `/opt/CA/UnicenterNSM/atech/services': No such file or directory
chgrp: getting attributes of `/opt/CA/UnicenterNSM/atech/services': No such file or directory

Starting the install.aworks utility...

Note: To restart the Unicenter NSM Agent Technology Installation
at a later time, re-run the 'install.aworks' utility from
/opt/CA/UnicenterNSM/atech.

Press the Enter key to continue...

./setupNSM: ./install.aworks: No such file or directory

The install.aworks exited with a non-zero return code.

Exiting...

Since there was an agent installed previously, I ran the uninstall.aworks script, then deleted the /opt/CA directory before attempting to install the 3.1 agent. It seems from the message there may be a permissions problem, but I'm logged in as root and added the execute permissions to setupNSM. I checked the /opt/CA/UnicenterNSM/atech directory for install.aworks but there is nothing in here except for the script directory. Also verified all the rpms are owned by root. Any help or debug suggestions are more then welcomed.

Hey Michael,

You can not do it via ./setupNSM.

From the command line in the /opt/CA/UnicenterNSM/atech directory enter the command:

./install.aworks

That should get you going again.

sounds like a similar problem acolleague had with SuSe linux, raised a support call (14502591)

CA Support told him to:

About reported problem related to system agent installation, please, perform
the following steps:
---
1. Clear out entries using
rpm -q --all|grep ca-
2. And delete all the found components with
rpm -e component
3. Rerun the install using setupNSM atech

I guess I should have read it all before replying...

Delete the entire atech directory.

Delete the installation directory you installed from (/tmp or wherever you put it.)

Then reload the installation material (cd or image) and start a fresh install.

If you had not deleted it all, it would have worked as stated in my previous message.

Thank you both for your replies. I did try deleting the media from the server using rm and recopied over the media to the server. I also deleted the /opt/CA directory and reran the installation, but received the same error. I didn't delete the media using Andy's suggestion. Is there a benefit to deleting the media using the rpm commands? Thanks again

Did you use rpm to install? If you did you will have to use rpm to completely remove it.

I had the same problem. Get the TEST patch T205282. This will take care of your problem.

Andy and Chris,

You guys are right on! After I removed the rpm packages I was able to successfully install the agents! Thank you sooo much.

Regards,
Mike
