I have a request to generate a report which must show LAN utilization of a link based on either IP addresses or subnets generating the traffic. This will be used for chargeback based on utilization. This report doesn't fall under the pre canned reports in Portal. Has anyone had experience creating custom reports within Portal based on NPO 3.5 data? I am in the process of trying Forest & Trees but am having no fun tracing the information within the rmon tables. We deployed a few Probes and see two canned reports that if combined may provide the information necessary; -LAN Link Utilization- reports traffic in/out against link capacity% -Route Delay Summary- Shows source and destination subnets, hop count and roundtrip delay in ms Please let me know if more information is needed. Thanks, Mike |

Mike, I am also starting to use NPO but hope to integrate it with UMP, so keep me posted as to what you find out. On a side note, do you have any hints, tips or tricks for a new NPO |

Some NPO Tips & Tricks I would recommend using Portal 3.1 over 2.0 since you will need to apply patches to get the NPO integration to load on Portal 2.0. You should also decide if your going to install NPO on the same server as Portal. In either case you will need to install the Web report integration and tell it to use Portal and change the port (8080). Then install the Web report integration on Portal (if this is on a different server). Lastly, once NPO is up and running, I would recommend applying the published NPO patches QO54825 QO54826 Let me know if the Portal integration did not create a datasource for NPO and I can supply the command to get this manually added. -Mike |
