Hi,
we are currently running NSM 3.1 and connect to the Server via Termianl Services to monitor activity via the EM Console. We would like more than 2 connections that Terminal Services allow and are looking for a way to install a client on workstations if there is one. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Jeff

I assume that Remote Administration Client or Explorer are options you looked at but for one reason or another, dismissed them?

They are both capable of viewing the event consoles as well as the 2-D and 3-D maps.

You can have more than 2 connections, but you Hill need license for Terminal Service (Talk with Microsoft). What do you mean when you say a client on workstations, an agents or a admin console? If the workstations are XP you can install agents and an admin console (map and EM between others things). Regards,

We have our setup like Jeff P.

To access the EM console from my workstation, I installed SQL client then used the Installation Wizard for Remote Administration Client Classic option from the NSM 3.1 CD.

You can have a client for the event manager, you must install the event agent once it is installed on the client box, you must map a drive to the unishare$ folder on the server, verify that you have the proper permission and then run the command: caugui conlog this will prompt you with a list of event manager just select the app. one. If you get an error the share permission are probably not correct. All the events are stored on TND\logs by default only administrators of the box yave read share permissions.

Hi,
Thanks for the feedback. I have installed the Remote Desktop Client and work quit well. The only thing I need is to find out what command I need to create a Desktop shortcut to the Console Logs. We distribute icons via Novell Zenworks and need to create a shortcut for this specific module.

Thanks
Jeff
