Hello all,

I have a requirement to monitor a Quick Eagle Digital Link 3800 IMUX. I have the mib (dl-3800.mib) and used the Trap Editor to load the traps into the CAITRPDB and ran the commands to refresh the database, however I am still receiving raw untranslated traps:

%CATD_I_060, SNMPTRAP: -c public 300 172.16.15.14 DL3800_MUX 6 68 139:05:33 4 OID: 1.3.6.1.4.1.300.102.1.3.1.10.0 .iso.org.dod.internet.private.enterprises.300.102. 1.3.1.10.0 VALUE: 1 OID: 1.3.6.1.4.1.300.102.1.3.1.2.0 .iso.org.dod.internet.private.enterprises.300.102. 1.3.1.2.0 VALUE: 4 OID: 1.3.6.1.4.1.300.102.1.3.1.11.0 .iso.org.dod.internet.private.enterprises.300.102. 1.3.1.11.0 VALUE: 68 OID: 1.3.6.1.4.1.300.102.1.1.18.0 .iso.org.dod.internet.private.enterprises.300.102. 1.1.18.0 VALUE: 0

I opened the mib file and searched for traps and see the traps are created using 4 different oids which are referenced in the raw trap:

-- Copyright (c) 1996 Digital Link Corporation
--
-- --------------------- TRAPS FOR DL3800 & DL3900 --------------------------
--
-- All of the traps below encode four elements into the message.
--
-- a) Port Number (encoded as unitEventOriginPortNum OBJECT-TYPE)
-- (unitEventOriginPortNum OID = 1.3.6.1.4.1.300.102.1.3.1.10)
-- A value of 0 indicates a Unit or DTE condition.
-- A value between 1 and 8 indicates that specific T1 line.
-- b) Severity (encoded as unitEventSeverity OBJECT-TYPE)
-- (unitEventSeverity OID = 1.3.6.1.4.1.300.102.1.3.1.2)
-- A value of 1 indicates a general Status message.
-- A value of 2 indicates a Minor Alarm.
-- A value of 3 indicates a Major Alarm.
-- A value of 4 indicates an Idled Alarm (a Major or Minor Alarm
-- condition reverting to the normal operational condition.)
-- c) Type (encoded as unitEventType OBJECT-TYPE)
-- (unitEventType OID = 1.3.6.1.4.1.300.102.1.3.1.11)
-- The condition causing the trap message. This value is redundant
-- since it is the same as the TRAP-TYPE value. This value is
-- in the range of 2 through 107 and indicates the condition.
-- d) Unit Shelf Slot Number (encoded as unitShelfSlotNum OBJECT-TYPE)
-- (unitShelfSlotNum OID = 1.3.6.1.4.1.300.102.1.1.18)
-- Number 1 is "No Alarm" and will never occur.

Since the oid isn't defined as a trap, I'm not sure how I should proceed in adding it. Can I add a trap using for example oid 1.3.6.1.4.1.300.102.1.3.1.10 and create a messsage like unitEventOriginPortNum? Also I'm not sure of the use of variables after the each refrenced trap in the message. An example is whats already in the trap editor for enControlBusFailAlarm:

unitEventOriginPortNum: %d, unitEventSeverity: %d, unitEventType: %d, unitShelfSlotNum: %d

Any help is much appreciated.

Henry

Ensure that you have "Format traps using provided tables" selected as YES in caugui settings, under Event management
